Ric, I want to make it over there sometime this week to check out some open reed elk calls. I am finishing up three bears, hopefully will be done by Wednesday, let me know a good time to come check some out, evening time is ok with me also.

If you do a trip in Sept. to usk and give a class please let myself and teacherman know when. If it doesn't interfere with early elk I know we would love it. Teacherman has a big bull tag on peaches ridge unit.
Are you heading up behind Sullivan for bear? Or out Tacoma creek and up toward calispell peak? I wonder if they ever got that big rock out of the way above sulivan toward gypsy meadows.
Let me know when you have consolidated your feces and have a tape to sell me on calling.

Two things Rick, what kind of wood is the light colored wood on the right? I would like a bear call in that wood...no rush at all, whenever you have a chance.
Secondly when you get ready to hunt up in the NE, I can give you a couple of really decent spots to call. I was up in that country a few years ago and stopped on the road and called in a tom. Only got a glimpse of him and watched where he went in. Circled around and went in a different direction. Put one of those foot pads on that had elk urine and went in past one of the gates with the signs "Hunters Know Your Bears". Calling in thick cover, I got the distint feeling I was trying real hard to make the Darwin awards!

the far right is stabilized maple burl it is resin inpregnated under great pressure. very dense wood make's great call's. i can do a bear call with my RR2 toneboard with a wider reed. for a deeper sound great for bear's. i'll turn a couple.yes when i hunted north baldy there were grizzly signs. and the wood cutter's told me not to shoot the sow grizzly with two cubs there were two sow's up there with cub's watched my back. yes interesting calling up there.
