We fixed up my sons old 40# compound and need recommendations for inexpensive arrows for straw bails and rabbit hunting. I have not bow hunted for quite a while so I am not sure where to find the right arrows.

Thanks for your help!

Most sporting good places will have some cheap carbons that are good for that sort of thing.  THey are usually rated at 40 and under.  Joes used to carry them, Sportsmans does, Bimart does.  Buy him 6 and let him have at it.  Usually cost you about $12-15.  If they work great, if not you aren't out a fortune.

WHat I usually do is take my old arrows that have dings, nicks, etc.. take them to the bandsaw and cut them down to my sons draw length.  generally, the imperfection on a damaged arrow (for instance one that I hit something hard with and shoved the insert up into the shaft) are up toward the front of the arrow.  When I cut down the arrow to my boy's draw length it usually removes the damage and the arrow works perfectly for him.  Call me a cheapo I guess...
You can also buy field points that are 45, 50 or 60 grains and will fly better out of a light bow than 100 gr.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Great feedback, thanks for your help!

We got the gold tips. Good idea about cutting down the old arrows. I will probably also try that!
