Paying for access
« on: January 27, 2025, 09:54:21 AM »
I am new to the board and want to know if anyone knows of any attempt to move the Washington Fish and Wildlife toward implementing a block management program similar to what Montana has?  Part of the fee paid by hunters in Montana goes toward payment to landowners to gain free access for hunters.  I for one would be willing to pay a little more for my tags if those funds were used for this purpose.

We have a private lands access program in Washington. Properties are available for a wide range of species all over the state.

There is not enough wilderness left in the world, or in the hearts of men.

Yes, Washington has a program similar to this but I can absolutely attest to the fact that it is abused and not handled properly just like everything else the state does. I'll elaborate later on but basically no checks and balances or follow through by the state after handing out the money and putting up signs.

100% agree with this statement, and it is run very poorly. its basically a game that one needs to figure out how to play.  All it really is, is a way for wdfw to say, "we gave you an opportunity as public to access". nothing states you have to be granted or given permission, all they say is "you had an opportunity".
