There are elk down around the river and reservoir in 621 and 622. I can’t speak to 620 though.

Chains seemed to make it worse.

Gumbo mud is the real deal. You will notice nobody local to the area runs oversized tires that are outside the wheel well and for good reason.
I can’t add any info for you as I haven’t hunted that unit, but good luck to you!

Chains seemed to make it worse.

I have 4WD with front and rear lockers.
And I assumed I could crawl my way out of that crap with chains 10 or so years ago.
I was wrong.

Here's my helpful hint:
(might not work on your hunt timing)

I deer hunted over in those exact units for several year.
Never elk hunted, but ran into a few guys with elk tags most years (just a few).
The deer hunters (me included) were perfectly willing to share real time intel on where we were seeing elk while deer hunting.

Gumbo mud is not bad as long as temps are below freezing.  Be off the hilks by 10 am or plan on waiting til dark when it freezes.
