Finally had some more time today. Pulled all the connections and cleaned them up. Reattached everything good and made sure I had battery power.  Checked the brake and blades. Checked the solenoid connection and fuse again. Smacked the starter a few times with a hammer. It fired up, sputtered and ran. Will see how she goes
Thanks to everyone who commented and gave suggestions

If it started when you smacked the starter, it needs a starter.

Or are you saying you did all those things and then it starter?  If so it would have been good to do one thing at a time so you know what solved the issue.

Mine this spring was battery.   It had juice, just not enough juice to crank, and wouldnt take any charge.   It would run if I jumped it.  Battery was 3 years old.   I replaced it and all is well

I did all those things at once. Then it started. Guessing the starter is going out. It’s a 20 year old rider

The starter on my Yamaha TTR 230 wouldn't work so I took it apart and found the smallest piece of metal had flaked off and would not allow the starter to spin. I put the starter back together and it worked fine after that.

So it could be that you have/had the same problem and when you smacked it it dislodged whatever was obstructing it, albeit maybe just temporarily and your problem will return.
