drift boat and motor?

does anyone run a motor on a drift boat? I was told if you throw a kicker on it, it has to be a long shaft, is this true?

I used to run an eight horse on my willie and it definately has to be a long shaft

the other thing is where the anchor arm comes off of the stern of the boat. i can't run a motor on mine unless i take my boat and have the anchor arm relocated to the side.
the stern is way high out of the water on a drifter so yeah...definitely gonna need a long shaft.

Can be done but depending on the boat it can be like trying to drive a forklift forward... can be a lil squirrely.

If you do not have a cut out on the stern you will need a long shaft.  My anchor pulley comes off and drops the mounting point for a motor 6-8 inches.  It makes for a great stable lake boat,  but does not track well in the wind and you will not get anywhere fast.
