appropriate scope and barrel distance
« on: June 27, 2009, 08:25:42 AM »
Well I mounted a scope to my weatherby yesterday but im kind of worried that i might be running into some clearnace issues.

Can anyone tell me if an 1/8th+ inch clearance is enough or not enough clearance for shooting?

i assume your talking the space between the bell and the barrel. as long as theres a gap it should be fine

what scope did you put on it??

i agree, as long as some gap is there, you're fine. the lower the better.

sometimes a big gap is good

Never, ever let Creed hold you baby, it will ruin it and you will have to get another.

:yeah:

I try to mount my scopes as low as comfortably possible... without touching the barrel.

Well i guess i will know whether it is to close or not when i go sight it in.

oh straight shooter i would have to say it is close as possable..... :chuckle: just wanted to make sure it wasnt to close.... :IBCOOL:

Very easy Jay if it does not touch the barrel it is fine. Whether it is 1 dollar bill or 80 of them. If it does not touch it does not touch.
