William o Douglas lakes
« on: July 16, 2025, 10:12:58 PM »
Has anyone fished twin sisters? Looking to do a camping/fishing trip up there next month with my boys. I've been in there chasing elk but never brought a rod. It doesn't look like it gets stocked so just wondering if there is a decent population there. Any other lakes we should consider? Feel free to pm. TIA!

In 2018, I saw multiple larger trout rising in the Big Cougar Lake, not so much for little cougar lake. Could have changed by now.

Yeah, I caught a bunch of little 8 inch trout in big twin sister last year (can't remember, maybe brookies?).  I think it was in June as there was still some snow on the trails and they were pretty hungry.  Guessing the bite won't be quite as strong this time of year.  There was also a group of elk across the lake in the morning.  Also caught trout at some of the other lakes in the area (jug lake I think)

Bring bug spray, or therma cell.

Based on the OP's username, I'm guessing that's gonna be an extreme necessity.

Add a head net as well.

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely be bringing mosquito repellent! We got chewed on last time I was in there.

I've been in the Wm. O Douglas and Norse peak wilderness areas a lot in the last
couple weeks and on Mt. Washington today, and the bugs are on full attack mode.
Unfortunately, or Fortunate, the only thing for me that stops them is DEET!
The 40% spray is pretty effective and easy to apply.
My lips have not gone numb yet. :chuckle:
