Pogue (233) Deer Tag
« on: July 30, 2025, 11:28:24 AM »
I drew the late Pogue whitetail tag this year and hope to spend a fair amount of time hunting the unit in November. I've take a muley in that unit before and did see some white tail even though I know they are few and far between on public. If anyone has the quality tag and is looking specifically for mule deer have them reach out to me. I'd be happy to share info with them if I see anything worth them chasing.

Cheers,

I drew the late Nov. rut hunt in 2007, any deer tag. The tag covered 5 GMUs to include the Pogue. My family owns Shady Pines Resort in Conconully, so I was able to get some local connections. I hunted past the snow park, at the snow line. I walked the snow mobile trails, fire lines, and glassed the burn areas. I shot a nice whitetail after glassing the tall timber. Big bucks are in the deep timber chasing does in the bottoms. The later the better IMO. Where I was at gets heavy local pressure throughout the Fall, but the bigger deer started showing, once the snow hit, and the rut was on. Good luck
