Idaho unit 14 info?
« on: August 07, 2025, 01:03:13 PM »
Looking to see if anyone has any info regarding this whitetail tag. Fish and game had a hard time with tag exchange this morning and ended up with this as a second tag. Never stepped foot in the unit. Pm me if you have any info to share. Thanks!

Stayed at Fish Creek camp grounds, hunted for 6 days and saw alot of small whitetail one bruiser (Over by Marten Hill) that i was to slow to shoot....Ended up with a basket 4pt. This was in October tho.....Saw the most on the south half....

elk hunted there a couple years ago.  I was above where the whitetails would be so can't help you much there though I"d be tempted to check out the foothills coming up out of the Salmon (though maybe more mule deer there?)

regardless, it's a CWD unit so bring everything you need to process the skull/antlers to get all the brains out of there before you leave the unit.

I saw 4 white tail bucks the other morning on usfs land while patrolling. I don’t venture that far down in the fall but the deer numbers still seem fine.

I've only hunted from Slate cr. to the south end. There are pockets of whitetail throughout the western portion in the lower end of most of the major drainages that seemed to lessen the further south we went. The north end out of Whitebird definitely looks more like classic whitetail country, that's probably where I'd start if I had a WT tag but I have no personal experience up there to back that up.
