Traditions Hawken Woodsman need repair?
« on: August 23, 2025, 07:18:24 PM »
Well someone gave me a Tradtions Hawken Woodsman Left Handed.

I have had it a few years and shot it a few times, but always used my in lines to hunt.
I have neglected this rifle had it hanging on an elk hoof gun rack. Grabbed it the other day and found it rusted where it touched the hair.  Dam scrapped it off but now needs five inches of blueing on barrel.

My other issue is the cock won’t stay back. No half cock or full cock. Took it apart but can’t seem to figure out why it not working . Cleaned it up and and can get it to work in my hand but not in gun.

So anyone who knows of anyone who works on them?

Can you see anywhere the wood might be touching part of the mechanism keeping it from working properly while it's in the gun? I had to clean up some spots on an old used longrifle where the wood had done a little swelling over time and was rubbing on the internal parts.

I did clean up around where the lever sticks down to in gauge the triggers.

That little lever is slightly bent, I am not sure if it was designed that way or not?

It’s hard to see in the top photo because iit is black and sticking up towards you. When it’s in the gun it goes down it that hole.   :dunno:
