Vail roads blocked
« on: October 24, 2025, 05:24:23 PM »
Just an FYI regarding the Vail Unit.

Road 2206 is blocked with logging equipment. That cuts off the North East area above Cinebar. The block is at 46.69334, -122.53107. OnX shows a way around by driving just past a windmill on road 2206j but that's not accurate. There's no road past that last windmill, only a cleared slope.  You can still get to the area above Cinebar, if you follow the Skookumchuck river following the road 2000, or the 2000 line as they say. If you're accessing Vail from Pigeon Spring Rd, it's a very long way around the barn!

Road E310 is blocked from a landslide at 46.67321, -122.56144.

The rain has also washed out a lot of ruts today. The rainstorm (I refuse to say atmospheric river) has deer moving around. I saw 4 grouse, 6 does, 2 spikes, and one 2 point. One spike and the 2pt had swollen necks, so the rut is starting!

The weather's great and animals are moving. Take your chainsaws and winch. There were a few stumps and rocks that slid off the clearcuts.

You'll never get a Big'un if you keep shooting Little'un's.

Thanks for the heads up. I would normally go across the 40, up to the 2206 and then drop down the E-320 to get to that side, so I guess that route is off the table.

You can see the 310 washout on OnX, so I think that one has been there a while.
