The 33 year quest

As some of you know I have been spending my hunting career trying to break a curse. Buglebuster knows more then anyone. I have had his advice for many years. I have harvested elk an does so I can't say I've not filled the freezer but, I have never harvested my own buck. Not for the lack of trying. I've ran cameras an put many miles on foot. I've done research an had access to private property. I've had members take me out but no luck.ive given direction to others who filled there tags. I guess it's just a matter if timing. I can say that Oct 25th my luck changed. I took out a neighbor who wanted to learn about hunting ,apparently he was a good luck charm. After hiking in to a cut 2 hours before daylight an hunting timber edges for the 4th trip. We saw nothing. Decided to go to another area. After a hike out an a short drive we found ourselves in somold growth timber about 100 yards from the truck. As we were creeping slowly through the woods. I spotted a deer. Only the white patch of his throat, his head an some visible antlers covered by ferns at the top. I thought well here we go. A 50 yard head shot. I settled in an squeezed off a round. Bang ....he was out of sight. Not sure of the shot but then 2 more bucks stood up. Well crap just my luck. Instead of trying again I needed to be sure. So I calmed down an waited. A few minutes later we walked up an saw leggs, then body, then my heart raced as I saw the antlers. It wasn't a spike, but a huge bodied 2 point. Omg it actually happened I got lucky. After a call to the wife an the kids I could calm down.. got him tagged an packed him out. The day was exciting an couldn't belive what just happened. A huge thank you to buglebuster for all the years of advice an faith in me especially coming from someone like him.
