Pack/ backpack to carry a folding long and edc etc.?
« on: December 06, 2025, 11:24:35 AM »
Hey everyone, I definitely don’t spend enough time here researching gear and things. Looking for advice for a good brand and/ or links for a backpack for daily use etc. I would like one that is long enough to be able to stow a short folder twenty two cal. in, as well as full size edc, in an accessible front pocket(s). No idea if there’s anything like this out there but wanted to ask our community for brands/ models that work well etc.

Much appreciated, as I’m just going to start searching for options online to start.

Take a look at Badlands packs, they make one with a hip holster built into the waist band, easy access to your pistol.  I have a badlands, I like it , I attached a couple  of quick release buckles to use my bino harness on front side, easy to use, easy to remove.   I wrote to badlands about it, they said they were going to add buckles to the new ones, I dont know if they did or not.    Anyway, check em out

I went with a holster I can add to my pack belt and easily take off and put on my pants belt.  The problem with having one built into the pack is that I don't always have my pack on.

Go with EXO and dont look back - best pack out there IMO - can add accessory units as needed
K# and K4 are great packs - I prefer the 4800

I use a Mystery Ranch, Sawtooth.  holster on the belt and a sig Cross fits in the main compartment with about 2 inches sticking out the top.  For what its worth.

I’m curious on why specifically the 4800?  I’ve heard others recommend it too, and I’m set on an exo for my next pack.  But why the 4800 specifically?  I am leaning towards the 7200 for the extra space if/when I need it but wondering if I’m missing something with everyone loving the 4800/5000…?  Thanks!

The 7200 Im sure is a great pack , but the 4800/5000 just works perfect for my hunting style - it can pack more weight than most can carry. I have packed out parted whole deer and 125# of elk in it quite afew times

Got it, thanks.  Yeah, the K4 frame is rated heavier than I can carry in any config  :chuckle:

OP is asking about an everyday use pack. Not a backpack hunting pack.

Badlands is great imo... I've had mine about 10 years now and can fit a whole boned out deer (up to about 90#) with all my gear for day hunts and carry it comfortably... Mine is only a 2200, has an internal aluminum frame so it's pretty light and room for a bladder... It has several gear pockets well arranged... I really like it... One of my best investments... It should go another 10 years... They have a great warranty and good customer service from what I've heard as well...  :twocents:
I love you... I really do...

Mystery ranch rip ruck is my EDC pack. Can fit a PCC like a scorpion or plenty of room for a sidearm.

I have the RipRuck 24. Use it for whatever small stuff. Currently has my laptop and note pad and other work stuff, but also works well for the other edc stuff. I think you’d need a bigger one if you’re trying to carry a folding rifle. They make a bigger one. Maybe a 32?
