I’ll add, though not always enforced, if your GVW is >10k the AWD with traction tires is often void.
It’s what it says in the door, not what you weigh at present.
And if you’re towing it voids the AWD exemption when chains are required. No matter how small the trailer is plus you have to chain the trailer.
I think DOT requires chains on any trailer braking axles and brakes on trailers over 1500#. Washington can have stiffer regs.
But you're correct that "but I have AWD/4WD with traction tires" becomes invalid with weight (capability, not current) & trailering. Interweb says a 2023 GMC 2500 GVW is over 10k. Above is correct as well, that chains are to be on hand. The few times I've seen that enforced, showing a box of chains was enough. They could be for a totally different vehicle. BUT, if accident, rescue, etc. occurred, you may wish you'd complied.
