Fur Harvesters shipping
« on: January 26, 2026, 09:32:29 PM »
Many of you already know that I am now a Receiving Agent for Fur Harvesters.  Here are some details for those that might consider shipping...
I will be at the Lacey Fur Sale in February.  I MAY get around to do pickups, but these will be few with gas and travel prices as they are.  Contrary to popular belief, I don't get paid for expenses, fuel etc, so travel is cost prohibitive.  IF I get around, I'll try to post here, the WSTA facebook page and my Fort Okanogan Facebook business page.

If you shipped through George Brady, I have your account info, and we'll just double check your contact info to make sure it's current.

Read up on Fur Harvester's shipping instructions on their website.  Here's some tips:

Long hair fur (cats, coyotes, foxes etc) get drummed. There is a drumming charge. Greasy fur, like beaver, do not.  Make sure your beaver is clean!  No one likes a dirty beaver....

CITES critters are separate.  If you're shipping bobcats and/or otters, they must be bagged separate.  Put a written CITES tag list in the bag.  Make it easy for me to double check tag numbers with you.  If you're shipping both cats and otters, put them in different bags, as any long hair fur and greasy needs to be separate.  Don't worry, I'll have bags.

Triple check there are no pins or staples in the fur!

Check to see how castoreum needs to be dried and packaged for shipping.  It's not my job to weigh your castor.  I'll have a scale at Lacey but help a brother out.  Make sure it's in ounces..... After drying, I suggest onion mesh bags, or wrapped in newspaper, or layered in cardboard boxes with newspaper. How you box/bag it is how I'll ship it.  Your box will go in a fur bag. Remember, it goes from me to Wisconsin to FHA and Feb is a long way from the June sale.....

There is a $17 shipping charge, regardless of size to offset shipping.
Once your fur goes to Fur Harvesters, it's gone never to return.

You can also mail stuff to me for me to ship.  Message, call or carrier pigeon for this or any other detailed info.

I have to verify inventory, ensure bags are done correct, schedule freight, build pallets etc.  My schedule is already packed.  I'm doing this as a help for trappers to give themselves options.  Help me help you!

I'm sure I left something out, but this is the 80% solution.

I can be reached at 502-310-3597 or theherberts@hotmail.com

Go info, Frank. Thanks for stepping up and filling the void. Having a FHA receiving agent is a much needed option for fur harvesters throughout the PNW, and the entire Inter mountain west.
Best of Luck to you…..and us.
