Big game season proposals
« on: February 05, 2026, 02:39:56 PM »
Did anybody read through the proposals? I never thought in a million years I’d see such a big increase in elk permits in the Yakima area, all weapons! It’s been along time since we’ve had this many quality/bull tags. Now let’s see if they actually pass it…

Permit levels in that herd have been ridiculously low for too long, its about time that they brought them back up to where they should be.

Agree 100%, but will be curious to see if the tribes push back on this.

Very encouraging. Was happy to see it. And it didn't include a massive increase in cow tags either, just moderate to a reasonable amount. Bull tag numbers high and cow tag numbers low, it's like they've had a premonition or something and finally figured out how healthy ungulate populations work...

But still nowhere near where they should be.  The huge decreases were done with little biological support.

The herd is doing amazing, bring back the 2015 permit levels!

I think final numbers will be more conservative.

And also the whole state is going to apply for those tags now. Wouldn't surprise me to see draw odds stay much the same.
