370” Siouxon Bull elk

Great looking bull.   I don’t think it’s a true blooded Roosevelt.   
When you hunt on the coast, you know what I’m talking about.   
I live in Enumclaw, and have seen what I believe are cascade rosies. They don’t have the body size of a coastal Rosie, or the shorter thick horns.

6-7 years ago my dad and I joined a Rayonier lease west of Forks... We were hunting a unit that bordered the Olympic Park during muzzy elk... We were hunting the edge calling a bull over and he came down hot... A perfect clean chocolate 6x6 huge, heavy, long tines, easy 350 class bull... I put a good frontal shot on him at 66 yard in the middle of the road we were both on... He turned and ran up the road 40 yards in the pouring rain... Then bailed off ridge in this steep reprod that was 20 foot tall with branches intertwined... We spent the rest of the day trying to track him... No blood... Tracks but there were elk tracks all throughout there... His were bigger though... Then spent the next 4 days grid searching for him on that side ridge... You'd have to step on him to find him while pushing through branches and stickers... I was sick... Guarantee you he's still there... But if I had that bull hanging on the wall and that's what you saw when you walked in... Most people would assume he's a rocky mountain... Saw 2 other bulls in that unit in the 330"+ clean 6x6... These weren't your standard looking brush bulls rosies... Even seen one with a collar and his antlers cut off... Main guy of the lease said those are park bulls... Sometimes you get lucky...

There are for sure some monsters in there... Still get a little crappy feeling in my stomach when I think back on it... Found two smaller dead heads looking for him... They were big bulls... 270-280 One was non typical the other a clean 6x6... It was just a crap situation all around... Probably a 1000 plus pound animal took a center punch from a 50 cal and disappeared in the reprod... Biggest bodied elk I've ever seen...

This bull is for sale on marketplace. Someone should buy him so we can see if there is a disparity in score  ...... 6 grand well spent for our piece of mind!

The potential for any species to have outliers is always in the cards, genetic potential and individual genetic characteristics are two different animals. Literally. The record books attempt to minimize errors in records due to genetic dilution from both interbreeding and line crossover. But its not a perfect system.

The bull in question to ME is a cascade rosie, which would enter BC as a rocky mountain elk. The overwhelming majority of the elk in those areas seem more rocky influenced than rosie. I also agree he is not 370 but pictures can be deceiving however 50 inches is a big swing.

I can't find it... FB stupid filters... I don't get on market place much... Surprised by how much taxidermy there is on there... There is a nice 7 point bull in Yakima for $750 though...     And a lot of bulls done with there mouths open look horrible imo...

Yea, curious what part of Siouxon was legal to hunt in 1980?  Every place I knew of with big bulls was closed due to eruption of MSH.
I do remember newspaper article around that era showing brothers with couple of huge bulls “ from Siouxon” that were later admitted to be farm bulls from North Bonneville area.
