Salmon Unit Elk - Scouting Trip
« on: Yesterday at 10:48:35 PM »
Hey All,

I’m a long time reader on this forum, and thought I’d reach out for advice. Four friends and I drew General season rifle elk tags for Idahos Salmon unit. This is the first time any of us have hunted in Idaho. We’ve started escouting hard and have two trips planned to get boots on the ground during Memorial Day and mid-July.

If you know this unit and want to share guidance, please message me directly. I’ll share in a private message what spots we have picked out to scouts. All I’m hoping for is a thumbs up or down on if we are pointed in the right direction.

Sharing my best whitetail (archery) and mule deer (rifle) to date. Still waiting on the elk and hoping this is the year.

Thanks!
Logan

Stay high they like the ridge tops. Wouldn’t waste my time in the sage country. Lots of elk to be had. Lots of road hunters. Elk are spooky there. Like see you from a mile away and they are gone! Get boots on the ground and the glass going. You’ll find your own spots. Just like everyone else finds them
