2026 Special permits

So I understand the permits for antlerless moose is an issue.
But I decided to put in for my Elk and deer special permits
Now it tells me I have to choose weapon and for elk east or west
I thought I did that when I bought everything online ( paper)
Got all my tags but the printed tags show no weapon type or east west area for elk
Went online and couldn’t find how to choose.
Anyone else having troubles putting permits in ?
Did call a few times yesterday ( multiple no answer)
Sent email yesterday and got a canned response and in particular the following statement

I don't apply until the paper regs come out... All issues are fixed by then...

I bought my elk tag at a dealer (Coastal) rather than online. I wanted the plastic paper tag in hand. It indicated Western and Modern. Also bought special hunt application. Grand total: $28.80

Submission period for applying for special permit is April 20-May 20.......I tried to submit it before April 20 and that didn't work, tried again on April 20 and it was accepted.

I stick to the old way of doing business where possible......I hate doing things online since if something goes wrong, you are going down a one way rabbit hole.

I emailed them on Monday 4/20 due to an issue with my tag, and they just got back to me this morning. I’m thinking they are slammed right now.

I had that problem last year (my tags not saying east or west or what weapon).  I called them and they said i had to go back to where I bought my stuff and have them correct it.  Let me tell you, the gal at Sportsman's was looking at me like i was crazy but they finally got it figured out on the computer.

If you go to purchase license and tags your unselected tags will show up as you scroll down the page. Add them to purchase and before you purchase you are required to fill out the tag for deer as to weapon selected. For elk you select what weapon and also east or west WA. After filling those out you can purchase them. If you have previously purchased the licenses for both you will get charged a dealer fee of $1.00 plus tax.

I have a printed and supplied by WDFW elk transport tag and a deer transport tag in my possession right now
that is the problem no weapons choice
I’ll get it squared away next week. I just was curious if anybody else was like that better check your tags if they did it once they did it twice.

If you don't put in for permits I guess you can hunt any weapon in any part of the state you want to.  Misread what you posted. I always delay the tags when I buy my licenses while I make up my mind which weapon I will use until it is time to enter the permits. Did not think you could even order a tag without selecting weapon or location for elk.

I’m pretty sure I chose modern cause I quit bow hunting and I do a little bit of Muzzleloader from time to time. I also know I chose Eastside elk modern as well.
Once I noticed that I had to look at those tags a couple times trying to figure out what the heck was going on with the new system and all the new rules
I got two discovery passes one for me and one for my wife and I was surprised to see those only came with stickers. Now you have to reuse your old placard.
I’m not impressed.

Max, the good news is once you hit age 70......you get everything for almost free......but then again, you're like 70..............

I wonder how they went about it on the system... I know a lady that works at Sportsman's and she said she'd like to know how they did that... She doesn't know how that's possible with the elk tag... She said the system doesn't let you continue without doing it the correctly... Won't let her proceed to print...

I sent them pictures of my transport tags.
 I’ll let you know what they end up telling me when I get it resolved.

She said it's a glitch in the WDFW website or the store of pick up... If you bought in store you can't even move on to the next step without choosing east or west, a weapon... Then get to print and check out... We all know how that goes... They haven't experienced any at the Sportsman's in Puyallup...

Concerning SP, All I know is that a "friend" told me the colock is the place to apply for an elk permit this year. ..........................Too soon?
