Probably a dumb question but can you tell when they’ve only got stubs if they’re gonna be branch antlered or spikes? Saw this guy on a camera today and was wondering.

I think he's a younger bull from his body and face... 3-4 year old... Healthy... Good bases for that age imo... Probably gonna be a smaller 5 or 6 point...

Branch for sure, youngster. As the state has forced the spike harvest more and more first year antlers are branched, not highly heritable but even low pass on makes a difference over time.
