Dear Washington hunter,

There are errors in the dates for some South Central Region (Region 3) elk special hunts in the printed 2026 Washington Big Game Hunting Regulations pamphlet. We are emailing you today because according to our records, you or someone associated with this email address purchased an elk special hunt permit application.

The date errors impact most categories of elk special hunts in Region 3, which includes game management unit (GMU) 251 and several 300-series GMUs, and only appear in the printed version of the pamphlet. The errors have been corrected in the online version of the pamphlet and the e-regulations also reflect the correct dates.

To minimize confusion, hunters wishing to apply for elk special hunts in Region 3 should consult the online regulations before doing so, rather than the printed pamphlet.  The corrected dates for the impacted special hunts are also listed below for reference.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.

Ridgefield office did a great job of mailing out printed packages on request and inserting corrections in the regs once they got them.  If left alone I think they might have printed out the entire book.   :chuckle:   :o

Well they put corrections online in a timely manner every YEAR, but the department then still has to send out an email because folks can’t figure it out and had to extend the application deadline because these same people waited till the last minute to submit their special permit application and have problems then cry about it.

Just saying but legally if you dont have a smart phone an only go off paper regs. Not much the state can do since its a legal book. Just putting it out there for the ones who go off paper regs.
I mean get it right the first time its not that hard. Or hey take away the tags an let us print our selfs. Haha
