Canon lense question
« on: July 08, 2009, 01:18:06 PM »
My sister has an older Rebel film camera, with 2 auto focus lenses.  Will the older lenses work on the new digital SLRs?  Anyway to know?

Not always.   If they happen to be canon to canon, then a much better chance.  I had a 400 sigma that worked just fine with my canon A2E film.  Bought the digital 40D and found they were not compatible.  It needed a chip upgrade.  Sigma had done that for awhile but were now out of chips.  I sent it to Mray to see if he could use it and it wouldn't work on the 20 either.

i have a digital rebel and a film rebel and the lenses are interchangeable. not sure if that means they all work or not...but thats what happens with the 2 rebels.
as far as lenses go tamron lenses and canon kit lenses work the same in both cameras too...could not vouch for other brands but i would assume they would be ok.

Tamron is linked right in there with Sigma I imagine.  They both produced lens for Canon.

These lenses are original Canon lenses.  Looks like my sister will be happy.  Thanks for the info.
