It is a M995 which was only made in the 90s.  It is a synthetic stock, and Sako does not replace them, from what I have been told.  Also found out this is a common occurrence with this stock, no matter what caliber.

The odd thing is, the bottom metal/plastic is molded right into the stock, and there is only one after market made, by Mcmillan at 200.00 a pop.  So I can not even go with another synthetic without paying thru the nose.  It is also a Polyurethane stock, so am not sure which epoxy to use, as acra glass may not adhere to the plastic.

Ok, so I have fixed the crack (probably over did it but it is done)  will be painting it some camo pattern this week.

The original crack in the stock

After sanding, drilling some holes for stainless pins, and cutting a couple of deep grooves, all prepped for acraglass

After the acraglass is applied and starting to set up.

will post the pictures of the painted stock after it gets done.

Ok guys, back to finishing my stock.

After sanding with 320 grit wet dry paper to rough everything up, taping off the action area, and the barrel channel, it was ready to paint.

I wiped it down with brake cleaner to remove any dust, oil, grime, etc....  It also made the stock a bit tacky, and helped with paint adhesion.  I used Krylon paint, the stuff designed for plastic.

First coat was a light tan

Then I took a couple of different fern leaves for patterns, and used a light gray.

Next, I took black, and the same fern leaves.

Then a satin/matte clear coat..  my brother doing the spraying, so I could take a picturer

After drying

Gun all reassembled.

Total cost of repairs and painting about $35.00
