Bear season is still open!
« on: December 03, 2007, 09:21:12 PM »
Since I'm new here I'd thought I'd post something interesting that happened tonight. Over Thanksgiving while at my parents we forgot to bring in the dog food. The next night we had 3 visitors, a sow and 2 cubs on the porch. The next day the local warden left 3 traps to see if we could capture them. The plan was to release them here but give them a little bean bag stinger so they wouldn't return. The traps have been here ever since. This evening around 6 I hear a bang. The trap went off. Inside was this guy. This is the best photo I could do but you get the idea. The plan is to see if we can come up with any more tonight so I added some more goodies to the other 2 traps and we'll see if anything shows up. When I went to check on what was in the trap I heard some crashing so I think something else is still around. We are going to release him in the morning. A few years ago this guy showed up. Unfortunately for him I had a tag and it was in September. Just to be clear no bait was used on him, just the black berries that grow all over the area. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.

I just came from tmike's and I'll tell you it was hard just to get that picture of him! He didn't seem to be liking his evening diggs too much and I have a feeling he wont like the release tomorrow much either :chuckle: but I'm hoping I can be there for it just to see the festivities and maybe get some more pics
Oh and BTW very cool for our kids to get an up close view it was hard to get my girls to sleep tonight they just thought it was the coolest thing :IBCOOL:

Well nothing else showed. It was a juvenile cinnamon. I was quite a process to get it released, but they sent it on it's way. I got some great video of the event.I'll try to be careful about leaving the dog food out from now on.
