No I would have never guessed that they would make sounds like that.  I wonder how many have heard sounds like that and had no idea they were hearing a cougar.

Yup that is what they sound like.  I got between a tom and female a few  years ago by packwood.  Missed the tom and just sat on the logging road.  Kept hearing this sound below me.  Pretty soon the sound was right below me and I finally figured out what was going on.  The tom was above me and she was below.  She finally stepped out at about 12 feet.  Did not miss that time.  She did run down the hill before dying.  While i was getting her out, the tom had come below the road looking for her.

I just want all of you that are gonna rip this sound to kill a cougar with it.  The very first time I get a lion I am going to send them pictures and thank them for the help.  That will teach these anti hunters.   :chuckle:  Do you guys even know how many videos I have gone through with hippies that baby talk to these cats and put the LAMEST SAPPY music to slides shows of cougar pictures and video.   :puke:

Interesting sound.  Parts of it sound like the "in heat" sound but some sound more like a distressed sound to me.

Been there, to the Denver Zoo that is.  saw the big Male Lion doing his calling when I was there.  Pretty cool!
