Elk hunting north of Salmon Idaho. GMU 21A

anybody hunted this area?  tips tricks, trades?
You can run but you'll die tired.  Rangers Lead the Way.

you should post in Elk forum... I've hunted all over that country and moreso in the Bitterroot on the other side of the state line... Nice country... good elk country... get off the road and you will find elk sign....

I've been in that country a few times during elk season.  Seen quite a few elk.  I hunt every year south of Salmon in unit 28.  Great country for spot and stalk for elk.  Get up high and get away from the roads and you'll find them.

I've hunted 30 30a , archery and riffle , good bet for archery season stay hi , I've seen a few real nice bucks in there as well , not any huge bulls , 300 ish. Good luck . coach

I have hunted 21A right were you are going three years ago theirs almost as many wolves as elk find somewere better to hunt. It may have used to be great but it is not anymore. not many bucks either.

Have you called a biologist with the F & G in salmon?  They may be able to tell you about the area and impact the wolves are having.  We have wolves in the unit I hunt - 28.  But we still are able to find elk if you get away from the roads a ways.
