I've been in that country a few times during elk season. Seen quite a few elk. I hunt every year south of Salmon in unit 28. Great country for spot and stalk for elk. Get up high and get away from the roads and you'll find them.

I have hunted 21A right were you are going three years ago theirs almost as many wolves as elk find somewere better to hunt. It may have used to be great but it is not anymore. not many bucks either.

Have you called a biologist with the F & G in salmon? They may be able to tell you about the area and impact the wolves are having. We have wolves in the unit I hunt - 28. But we still are able to find elk if you get away from the roads a ways.
