To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Hello all, my daughter who is 13 and an aspiring hunter wants to go deer hunting. I looked at a map and picked out Olympic National (Black Hills). Any tips / directions would be appreciated. Thank you all!!!

You may want to try where there are lots of trees. Yea, I've heard they hangaround in the tree areas. You may want to get a good topo map, take some time off and do a bit of scouting in different areas. My bet though is treesy areas, yup. :beatdeadhorse:

Wow, you guys are in a mood today!

Welcome to the site.  Post more about yourself and maybe some hunting stories and pictures, and you will soften these guys up a bit.

Oh god, here we go again!  Can't someone just give a forest road number into the woods so we can make this one a quick one?

Check out this website.  It brakes it down by GMU's and gives you ideas of where to go.

Problem is they bark alot!

I would gladly give you some road numbers to check out, but cannot remember any and have not hunted the area in better than 10 years.

Welcome to the board!

Yeah, that website was my "honey hole".  feel free to PM me your honey holes!  Seriously though, that's why we're here isn't it?  To share stories, learn, teach, and just make new friends.  Gotta give a little to get a little.

Well in the event I ever kill anything I might send you that PM  :chuckle: :chuckle: in the meantime I keep wandering the woods and berry patches looking for critters......so if you like walking a lot and picking stickers out of your hands and clothes and there is nothing like moss and grass awns in your bra  then I have some great spots  :chuckle: :chuckle:
