Ok ok ok... sorry guys! I don't have internet at home yet (all my money goes into hunting these days..)
So there were reports that a bear was terrorizing a local campsite by stealing food and whatnot. We figured we may as well check it out. We scanned the entire area around it for about 4-5 hours, and were going to start an "outer sweep", so we moved back towards a road to get to where we wanted to start.
As we were walking along the road, sure enough, this guy just stepped out in front of us and walked across. My buddy wanted to shoot him right there on the spot, but we elected to hold off as we weren't sure if the road was maintained or not, therefore we weren't sure if it was legal or not.
We waited until he crossed, and was into the forest before we both got into the woods and started working our way parallel before crossing in to intercept. It was kind of a sloppy maneuver, but I guess it worked. I was the first to see him, and of course when he stopped to look at me he stopped just perfectly with a tree covering his vitals (doh!). He must not have been too scared or anything, because he continued on and as soon as he stepped away from the tree I put a pretty good quartering shot into him. He only made it another 30-40 meters. I ended up throwing one more .45 FMJ into him when I found him (I could hear a sucking chest and it was obvious he had a tension pneumothorax), and that was it.
When I cut him open, I found about a half dozen hotdogs and a couple Kraft singles cheese packets. I thought that was pretty hilarious, I think we caught the campsite culprit
