Puyallup is Hot Hot Hot
« on: August 26, 2009, 03:36:20 PM »
Took the day off so I could beat the crowds (dream) for a day on the Puyallup.  Got down there about 9:00 off River Road.  Caught six pinks before noon, threw them all back (I don't really eat fish).  After that, I drove out towards Puyallup, and the river was FILLED with people.  Side by side for miles.

i've heard of people pulling guns out there from many different story tellers. "combat" fishing gets nasty.

but I'd still like to make a trip out. corky and yarn??

I've heard the same thing.  I stayed on River Road, more towards Tacoma.  There weren't a whole lot of people down that way, most were towards Puyallup.  I've never encountered any of that.  If I did, I'd leave.  I'm not getting killed over a Humpy.  Anyway, my idea of going on a Wednesday to beat the crowds didn't seem to work.

Not sure how truthful those stories are, I spent a good deal of time there this weekend and I can say everyone I saw and talked to was very friendly and I didn't see one arguement at all. The only thing that I didn't much care for was all the snagging, it was pretty out of hand.

Pulling guns over humpies. :dunno: What are things coming too. Id rather stick to knife fights for chums. :chuckle:

You summabitch!! Get outta my damn hole! Im gunna shoot ya if ya don't!! These pinks are so damn delicious they are totally worth your life! After I shoot ya Im gunna throw your ass in the river too so I suggest you take your snoopy pole and your smelly barkin black lab back up to your pickumup truck before things get ugly!! Now leave me alone so I can fill up my freezer with all these delicious pinkys  that will most likely get all freezer burned sitting in my freezer for four years until the next run of em comes in. AND I better not see ya hear again four years from now! :P

Went to the Puy tonight after work. Hooked a ton of fish and kept three hens for eggs. Fishing was really good until the idiots started standing halfway across the river, which is where the fish were laying.

If I were a little more brash I'd whistle loudly while in the Puyallup "meat line" and say "Ok, listen guys, the fish are laying 1/3 to 1/2 ways across the river, we're all going to take 10 steps backward and stop casting to the other side of the damn river...ready, GO!"

But I'm not that brash so I just have to cast way past the majority of the fish like everyone else so we don't get too many tangles.

I particularly like the ones who stand another 5 steps beyond the crowd (who are already too far out) with his spinning reel on the top of his rod, reeling backwards.  After a while my head starts aching from rolling my eyes so much.

Nope...instead I just start casting over peoples' shoulders hoping they get the point. The caliber of people up there don't get it though.

I haven't seen much in the way of arguements either but I fish an area with not much crowds, the snagging pisses me off with so many fish why do you need to, I've been lucky and probably hooked 50+ fish down there so far and maybe 5 were fouled. You're going to limit out with that many fish I've only come out once with out a limit, I got 9 days on a back country elk hunt next week so I got the smoker running 24-7 gonna go down tomorrow and bang out a few more, this is the first time I've ever exprienced " Fishermen's Elbow" :chuckle: My left wrist is killing me from so many fish :IBCOOL:
