Jump Shooting

Wow, had a stupendous day. I haven't gone jump shooting in a long, long time. Had to relearn some basics...what to look for(signs of ducks), listening(I'm hard of hearing so this is a chore); it's funny how you start to relearn what you've forgotten.
I did learn one thing I don't like my O/U for jump shooting. I'll carry my duck/goose gun next time. The O/U did well but I like the third shot.
Gus and I got two but I believe if I would of had the semi-auto I'd of had another or so.
The Scab Lands were hazy, dusted with lots of fresh snow, puddles frozen solid if they were shallow enough otherwise the middles were open. All moving water was still open.

I don't know about trying to relearn listening Scott... Did you wear your hearing aids? I wonder if you'd have more luck taking the cue from your dog instead.

Jump shooting? Can someone explain, I am starting to get gear together to start waterfowling.

I believe it is not hunting from a blind like a lot of guys do for waterfowl, but walking along a creek where you get the ducks to flush or jump off the creek so you can shoot em. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong, but that is what I understand jump shooting to be

That sounds like the kind of duck hunting my wife and I could get behind!  Our dogs have no interest in retrieving and sitting still in a blind, so maybe this is an option.

I am not sure if these come in Camo or not but they would certainly make that jumping much easier and get you to all new heights.. 

What is that thing?

They strap to your calf and your feet and act like legs with much more spring.  Modeled after the gazelles if I remember right.  They are supposed to allow you to cover great distance with little to no effort.  Saw them on Discovery some time ago.

To quote Ray, " You don't need that hard hat on, you're top roped." Sure enough I was bleeding soon into the climb. Nailed the mellon on the over hanging rock. hahahaha
