Puyallup update
« on: September 17, 2009, 12:45:10 PM »
I got out on the Puyallup yesterday. I got there around 3:30 and got a couple hours of decent fishing in. There are so many fish in the river, mostly spawned out pinks.
I managed to hook up with two nice and bright silvers, both hens almost a match set 4 and 6 lbs.

I know THIS IS USELESS WITHOUT PICS!
I had my IPhone with me .....I just plain spaced taking any pictures.

I only saw one other fish caught in the time I was there and that was a smallish silver as well. There was not a crowd to worry about and the few that were where I was were spaced nicely. When the rain started, most packed up and left. I love fishing in the rain, lol.
I did notice something I thought was odd though. When I first got to the river the flow seemed substantial. Then as I was getting ready to leave it seemed to me the the flow had decreased noticeably? The Puyallup does not have a dam that I know of, what could have caused the flow to noticeably change in just a couple hours?

At about 5:30 two (two man) rudder rafts with I think six people came floating down to where I was fishing. These idiots were wearing swimtrunks for the guys and bikinis for the girls. They pulled out right where I was fishing. They climbed out of the rafts dragging cases of beer and tons of empties. The girls were shivering heavily like the first stages of hypothermia was setting in. I know I was standing in the river for a couple hours and my feet got cold through my waders and two pairs of wool socks, lol. That whole scene looked like a catastrophe waiting to happen.

If you were fishing below the White, there is a dam on the White, there is also the Electron Dam that could influence the flow, but I've seen that it can rain heavily in the upper basin and be clear and sunny down lower at times.

Don't you know the best cure for hypothermia is to get naked and lay in a sleeping bag together? Especially with bikini-clad drunk chicks!!

Flow decrease and increase is due to tidal changes especailly below the white river. You may also notice the bite changing too when it occurs.

What was described wouldn't fall under a tidal cycle occuring in six hour intervals.

OK, so first off do you not think that "if" they would have been worth the time to take my phone out of my pants pocket within my waders in the rain while standing in the river with a more then possible chance of dropping my phone,
I WOULD HAVE DONE SO!

I also would have got pics of my fish then now wouldn't I have?  :dunno:

I was just south of the Alderton overpass, I forgot about the Electron Dam.

What were you getting the silvers on????

I got both silvers on salmon colored yarn and winged bobber and the second one was on salmon colored yarn and a cheater. The guy upstream who got the other silver was using pink yard and egg shaped cheater.
