High buck hunt question
« on: September 21, 2009, 06:39:17 PM »
I have my modern firearm license, can I hunt the high buck season? What are the restrictions? If it is only altitude, I hunt around 5000'
Thanks

you have to hunt within the designated wilderness areas and the season ends the 25th.

look in the regs it says where the high buck areas are
No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.

It tells you on the modern firearm deer hunting page at the top!! It will list all the wilderness areas that you can hunt!!! Its also gives you the dates and if you have a good map it will outline those wilderness areas for you!!! I sent you a message!!

There's all kinds of wilderness specific maps out there as well as Forest Service maps that will have the wilderness boundaries.

I have both - go to the nearest FS office and get their maps and go to REI or somewhere like that for the wilderness-specific maps.  When you start narrowing your area, you can get some Green Trails maps to see specific access trails, etc.

Of course, I like my maps.  I also have the Nation Geographic Topo software which has a free add on pack with the GMU boundaries (2008, but they mostly haven't changed.)  If you figure out what GMUs the wilderness areas are in, you can find it on your digital map.

Green trails have worked great for me...

There's also boundaries in your gazeteer you just got to know where to look!  I've found that the boundaries in the gazeteer are there but are not entirely accurate...
