" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

Finally came up with all the reloading components.  My hunting partner loads 140 gr nosler bullets on top of 100 grains Retumbo chronographing at 3600 +/- fps out of the same rifle as mine.  Groups are 1/2 moa.

I am going to load the Barnes 140 gr tipped tsx bullets starting at 98 grains and working up...  Will let you know how it goes....

Got 2 loads worked up for my rifle....

First load 140 grain Barnes TTSX  3580 fps sub MOA groups

150 grain Barnes TTSX 3380 fps MOA groups

No signs of pressure for either load ---  running out of room for powder.  Both are with compressed loads

Switched powder and worked up another load....

150 Grain Barnes ttsx
RL-25

3550 fps
sub moa groups

I think I'll stick with this one

Nice Moose!!!  The RUM will get the job done.

I think they do eat barrels up fast compared to other calibers.  A smith told me about 800 to 1000 rounds then time to rebarrel.  My 50 rounds per year will last me 16 years.  By that time I will be ready to move on to another rifle....

I have heard the same about short barrel life with the ultra mags, and some of the other powerful magnums. Barrell life is pretty short, 800-1000 rounds.
