I have been thinking about this for a long time and this has been the toughest decision I have ever had to make, but in the end, I feel it is the best thing for him. My hours at work will be changing, I will be going back to take some classes, and I just don't have the room/time he deserves.
Gunner is 2.5 years old (born May 2007), he loves the water, and loves to be around people. I have all his AKC papers and he is up to date on all of his shots. He has been around small children in the past. I dated a girl who had an 18-month old daughter and he was very gentle with her. I have only worked with him a little bit on any hunting training. I have never shot around him, but when I pull out a Pheasant wing he gets excited. Like I said, he loves the water, and he will swim non-stop until I make him get out.
I have a 6'x6'x6' chain link kennel with horse stall mats for the bottom that I would be willing to sell for $100 (way less than what it's all worth). The only reason I'm asking money for that is because my dad could use it otherwise. The only thing I ask of whoever takes him is that you have the room to let him run, and the time to devote to him. I don't know what other information to include, so if there is anything else you would like to know, please ask.

That is a good looking GSP
Have had a few GSP's in the past and they are great dogs and they love to hunt
Would love to adopt him by wife just adopted another dog from the shelter. Sure you will find someone. Go on internet and find local GSP rescue site. They are very helpful. I took a GSP from this site 10 years ago and a great dog. They can help you find some to help adopt.
Good luck

Antlershed,
I have one acre of property, how is he around other dogs? I have a male bluetick that is about 6 years old. I also have a baby girl that is 14 months old.
Where are you located?
Thanks
Joe

Sorry guys, I didn't realize my location info had been lost with the site hack. I'm in Tenino.
He loves other dogs. When I got him at 10 weeks old, my girlfriend at the time had a 3 year old lab, and he was around her til he was a little over a year old. I have also taken him to dog parks so he has been around a large variety of dogs, and he has never had any issues with other dogs. Occassionally he will bark if another dog does something he doesn't like, but he has never snapped at another dog. I figure that is their way of working it out.
The only thing I will say about your little girl, is that him still being very much a puppy and a hyper breed, he can get excited. When I was dating that girl, her daughter was around him a lot, and there was just once where he got excited and turned around too fast as she was coming to pet him, and it just scared her when he bumped into her. Another time, he was asleep on the floor and she went over and laid down on top of him, and he just woke up and expected his belly to be rubbed.

A few questions that have came up in other messages that I forgot to address in my original post...
He is fixed.
He is house trained. He spends most of his time inside and knows that if he needs to go outside, to go to the door and whine a little to get my attention. I try and let him out often enough, but sometimes he has to go before I let him out, and he will go to the door and let me know.
Also, I have a dog crate with a cover that I will include with him.
