1st Bull Pics and Stories
« on: October 09, 2009, 04:53:01 PM »
Here's a pic of my first Bull. Taken my first season of actually getting to carry a rifle and not just bird dog! November 84. Last day of the general rifle season a few hours before dark. Pretty nice Rosie for a Kid. Dad in the background. Grandpa was there too demanding to pack a quarter at 72 years old. Awesome day I'll never forget.  :)

Same here Buf...   My grandfather was a hunting machine.  When two of my uncles did their part in WWII their desire for hunting went down so much it was hard to join in with them when they decided to go.

Thay have some really cool hog shots.

Yup, Grandpa was a tough son-of-a-gun. Though barely able to get around anymore he is still kickin. Turns 98 in April and Grandma 96 in May. They still live on their own but get checked up on daily. His older sister, my great Aunt turns 102 in April. She was still driving up until last summer.  :yike:  Montana folk are built to last I guess.

Good memory, glad you added it.  There are a few on here that have yet to share in a memory like that but ther time is hopefully coming.  The rest of us know how exciting that moment was.

Cool picture and memory.  That was about my first year elk hunting as well.  I did get to hunt with my grandfather for a few years, ironically a WWII vet that was injured 3 times in the s.Pacific.  The 3rd time he lost one eye, and developed a love of hunting when he returned.  He actually used a surplus M1 (he could use the safety when shooting left eyed).  I still to this day can remember being a young boy, riding up in the hills with him in his 77 Jimmy, scared to death that he couldn't see the side of the narrow road in the dark.  Ahhh, the good ole days..  :)  Wish my kids could have met that generation.

Your lucky Kid. those are great pics and great memories for sure. I never got to hunt with my granpop but I did do alot of crappie fishing with him. He was such a liar....you know like all fishermen are  :chuckle: not like hunters...you know truthfull  :chuckle: :chuckle: Those were some of the best times of my life. He is gone but the memories are strong. :)
Just one more day

You know what they say NWBREW,

"Give a man a fish or some game and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish or hunt and he'll lie for a lifetime."
