Deer falling to iron sights

I always hunt property that is a combination of sagebrush/rolling hills and some pretty thick stands of Ponderosa pine.  I'm taking a lever gun into the pine this next year, as we always seem to jump something on our way to go glass the hills.  Anyone on this site drop a deer in 2007 with an iron-sighted rifle (not muzzleloader)?

i didnt kill a deer this year with iron sights but for the first 4-5 years of hunting when i was young i killed 4 deer with iron sights, sounds like the same set up you have, i had and old 30-30 lever action and she never let me down, shot straight as a arrow, but they do require some practice, so i say its a good idea but the farthest you would want to shoot would be maybe 125-150, which a deer thought iron sights looks very small at that range lol

I haven't shot a deer w/iron sights in quite a while. A few over the years, when it worked out that way. I do prefer to use a scope for more precise shot placement.

1st&2nd deer I ever shot was with a lever action, iron sights.  Last year in Montana, with a .444 marlin, @ 140 yrds down hill.  1st was in Mississippi at age 10, I think it was a 35/40 winchester (long time ago), @ 65 yrds.

I think that iron sight shooting is an almost lost art.  I hit target clays @ 300yrds this year iron, took like 20 tries, but got it.  I also choose my Mod.700 adl .270w cause it was the only 700 w/iron sights. 

Sometimes the scope just gets off for some reason, but you can always bank on good iron sights if you practice
A pat on the back is just shy of a kick in the ass..

look close in this photo of my friend, that's a 30/30 "leever action" cradled in those antlers, taken this year. didn't get one myself with irons but scored a 4x4 whitetail last year with iron"peep" sighted BLR 358 WIN.
