Foul hooked sturgeon
« on: October 13, 2009, 07:16:39 PM »
A good friend of mine went fishing with the same guide I used last week and they hooked into a 8+ footer.  It took them FOREVER to get him up to the boat where they discovered he was foul hooked.  They are hard enough to get up when you hook them properly!!

That is one big fish! How much would an 8 footer like that weigh?

Probably right in the 300 pound range.  Here is a good size/estimation chart:

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

300 sounds good. I've seen some much heavyer and some that are not close.

Columbia white sturg are normally longer and not as fat. Frazer White sturg are short and fat. You will catch both in the Big C.

Is the taste of the bait worth the sting of the hook twice?

Can't believe that they got that big sturgeon foul hooked like that. They fight at least twice as long and harder when foul hooked
Congrats to him
