Not many 'Yotes...
« on: December 29, 2007, 06:30:53 PM »
We did 150 miles today, just doing a bit of scouting, didn't stop and do any calling...

Traveling in areas where we can see as many as 33 'yotes in one day, as they mouse in the fields,  we have seen only 1.  Thats kind of crazy for some of these areas, especially with the snow that we have had.

Makes me wonder if there are that many new predator hunters out there, or what!

Thanks for the report. Even though there's no more dead dogs than before you went on your trip I still like to know someone is out to give em hell.

Saw a yote last week trying to put a bead on the Canadians. Wish I had my .223  because he was about 250 yards out and my shotgun doesn't get out that far  :chuckle:

Oh yea, there was a bunch of crows out, and the sun was blinding. Quite a few very good looking spots for varmints though. Might have been the sun, I've seen winter yotes lay up and sun bathe for a while as long as the sun was out...then feed in the evening as the day cooled.
The more I think about it, that sounds fairly realistic...

Covered some great country though.

High Country, you made it out saturday? South Eastern WA? ;)

We were out on Friday night, did lots of driving and spotlighting, but the fog was so thick we didnt have any luck.
