Vail Questions?
« on: October 21, 2009, 10:26:05 AM »
First off, I want to thank everyone on this site for their help and valuable information over the last few months. I've always went to the eastside in an "old family honey hole" for opening weekend trying to tag a deer. Well maybe 30 years ago it was a hot spot but things have changed. I didn't get any scouting time this year because I was sick the weekend that I had planned to go.  I used wind direction techniques, scent cover, and watched patterns that I learned on this site from other's threads. While I didn't tag my buck, I saw more deer this year than any other year before, and three bucks (not legal) which is a first. This is in an area that is reported to have low deer numbers so I have to believe the techniques are working.

Unfortanatley my work schedule wont allow me to take another trip over this year so I'm hoping that I might be able to stumble upon a blacktail over here on the westside. I have heard lot's of thing about Vail, some good some bad, lot's of does and tiny bucks. Right now I kind of just want to put some meat in the freezer. I plan on heading out that way this weekend with my four year old and I have a few questions about the place.

-Where can I get a map?
-Do I have to buy a permit or do I just pay to get in at the gate?
-How much does it cost?

Thanks again.

no entrance fees show up at the gate and wait in line. I know Sunbirds in Chehalis and Yelm sell the maps i'm sure other places do as well.

If you call the Weyerhaeuser hotline they give you a list of stores that carry the maps.  The # is 1-866-636-6531.  That place is a zoo get in deep and get off the roads.
Hunting and Fishing are not matters of life or death... THEY ARE WAY MORE IMPORTANT!!!
