unit 360, Little Rattlesnake area on the burn
« on: October 29, 2009, 06:26:00 PM »
set up elk camp yesterday, trying to beat the nasty weather for setting up camp. Mission accomplished.

but the lil rattlsnake creek area was on fire. Controlled burn of huge slash piles from clearcutting two years ago. lit up the whole area.
my dad says this is bad for this weekend's elk season.

any opinions?

I was up the 1501 last weekend and did not see any burns  :dunno: where were the burns.

We have camp set up towards the end of the 1501 already.

There were signs all over the 356 saying they were doing them. Apparently a couple years ago there was active logging during the season, so it could be worse…

The burns will not hurt the hunting.  Animals are not effected by logging activity as much as one would think.  As a matter of fact I have seen elk warming themselves by burns in really cold weather.
