Access Question
« on: November 02, 2009, 04:37:07 PM »
Longtime reader, finally decided to post.  I have been living in washington fora about ten years now, moved from Hawaii (  the hunting is awesome by the way)  Anyways I finally drew my Toutle  Modern tag and have put my time in scouting.  The question I have is I have encountered a few gates within the " The Tree Farm"   that have been open for a very long period of time and don't seem to  ever be closed.  The problem I am having is that their is  signs posted saying no motorized access but I can visibly see from time to time where trucks have driven in, and also the gate is buried in sediment  to the point where it is almost falling of and unmovable because of being buried.  I'm sure if you have ever been in on Weyco land you have seen them.  My question is because the gate is open does that give me the right to drive in, if I choose to or have to?  Keep in mind I have walked many of these roads and they will stretch anywhere from 6- 10 miles till you run in to another line or spur.  Just curious on peoples opinions or the actual rule, as I have gotten mixed answers from many and of course the Weyco Hotline is not to much help.   Thanks everyone and if anyone interested in hunting Hawaii let me know I am going over in Mid Jan.

Aloha
AC

I have noticed the same thing. What we finally figured is that if the gate is open you can drive in, whether there is a sign posted saying "no motorized vehicles" or not.

If there is a sign that says "no motorized vehicles" that's pretty clear, even if the gate is open.  :twocents:

No it's not clear, because they leave signs posted at gates that have been opened for public access. You can park at the gate and walk in if you like, but everybody else will be driving in.

If the gates are open and not operational, and the road is not ditched, you can drive on them.  However, if the gate is operational, you have to call the weyerhauser hotline and see if it is open to drive on.  Usually the main line road gates are open on the weekends, but closed during the week, even if they are standing open.  Weyerhauser has ongoing operations and they leave the gates open for log trucks etc...

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.
