OK, OK  the Finale....

Chad and I continually glassed the timber that the bull had moved into.  Couldn't find him.  I glanced down the ridge to my left a saw a 5pt and a 6 pt standing 150 yards below me.  Neither one was quite what I was looking for.  So i kept glassing the timber pocket where the shooter had moved into.  Chad tells me another bull came out below us.  Another 6 pt but not a shooter.  Now our focus has turned to the elk below us.  They have no idea we are even in the area.  We are both behind a broken off tree with a big rock next to it that I put my backpack on.  Perfect rest against the tree and on my pack.

Then we notice another bull is stepping up onto the little flat below us.  I see his fronts first as they come into view.  Good fronts I think to myself.  Then I see the G4 on his left side.  I could tell this was a good mature bull.  Chad says to me "Oh my god, shoot that one".  I put the crosshairs on his front shoulder just as he stops to eat a clump of grass and gently squeeze the trigger.  The bull tumbles and rolls down the hill.  He is down.

Chad and I walk up to him and high five each other smiling from ear to ear.  We have hunted elk together for almost 15 years, just the two of us.  This is definately our most memorable hunt.  The four shots that we heard earlier was Mark (one of the other tag holders in our camp) killing his 6 pt bull 2 finger ridges away.

I would like to thank the guys that allowed us to stay at their cabin.  I also would like to thank all of the guys in our camp for helping make this such a memorable hunt.  I know We all made some new friends.  I would also like to thank Jake for going with me on most of my 8 scouting trips and listening to my constant talk about my hunt.  Thanks Mark, Chad and Jake for helping me pack out, it doesnt get much worse than that.

I would also like to thank all of you guys on here that helped me prepare for my hunt and gave me advice.  You all know who you are, and if I can help you with something sometime, just let me know.

Thank you.  God I love big bulls.  After eating my Peaches Ridge Archery tag this year, nice to see some big bulls coming out of our state.  Congrats.

Did you eat your tag because you were picky or didn't get close enough? I wish I had that tag this year. I've got to stop putting in for group tags, we can't seem to draw.

I just heard that the last guy in our hunting camp tagged out last night.  So that makes 3 for 3!

Hunt-

Now that's the way to tell a hunting story.  Thanks for putting us all right there in the timber with you!!  Again, what cartridge and bullet do you shoot? Factory or Handload?
