Nothing wrong with getting permission to hunt private property. In my eyes if you dont pay its just as gratifying as hunting public. Nice animals.

My cousin had been watching several herds all week. On friday the biggest herd moved down river to a safe field (no hunting). Saturday morning my son and cousin slide their way down a 150foot rope to a field about a half a mile up and across river from where the herd was last seen. I took my cousins 10 year old son and waited for daylight across the river in hopes of spotting the herd in the clearcuts above the river. Around 8am I had worked my way over to a ridge above my guys and heard my cousin whisper over the radio that the elk were on a ridge to my right in the alders. I drove down the spur my sons truck was on and parked. On my way there my copilot heard shots fired in the direction of the alder ridge. Upon parking we worked our way out to the edge of a sheer drop off over looking the upper fields. Right when we reached the edge we heard 2 shots and then one more. At this time I spot the herd working their way across the field. About 50 head. After giving them a good glassing I told the guys that there were two legal bulls headed there way. Little did I know but they were the shooters that I had just heard. I thought they were to my left. My son told me they had bulls down. I guess I am a sap as I literally got choked up
. I was estatic that he had gotten his first bull. Here is where the work began, not bad but work it was. We gutted and then drug the bulls about 425 yds to the river and the rest is history. The first pic is of the bulls waiting for a boat ride. Thanks for all of your kind words. Mark
