Wet Side Elk Down!!!
« on: November 08, 2009, 09:12:29 PM »
Bought a west side rifle tag instead of an east side rifle tag like the rest of my hunting camp  :bash:  Oh well, came down w/ the flu and couldn't make it to elk camp this year so I thought I would cruise around Mt. St. Helens area looking for elk.  Well, today was the day.  We headed out in the driving rain and spotted a cow along side the road so we decided to go for a hike hoping the cow would meet up w/ a bull.  Never did see the cow again but found a 4 point about 10 minutes into the hike and it was lights out!  We had camera problems in the field w/ all the rain so the pics we have are back at the house.  First elk ever taken which is great  :IBCOOL:
Pics are attached because I can't figure out how to put them in the text.

Done good there!  Nice bull.  I've yet to take an elk - any elk - where it could be loaded whole.  Hope you enjoyed the easy pack on this one!

Congratulations on a nice first bull.  Must have been meant for you to buy the wrong tag.... :chuckle:

After I bought my by west side tag, I was still planning on heading east for elk camp but a case of the flu and a minor surgical procedure on my wife Thursday kept me home.

It was about a 500 yard pack to the truck once we got the truck onto the logging road.  Longest 500 yards I have ever walked :)  Five mintues before we spotted the cow on the side of the road we helped a guy jump his rig in the driving rain and I turned to my buddy and said we were paying it forward.  Gotta love the karma gods :IBCOOL:
