i would say that if it is in good condition and you like it then go for it. you can buy an 870 new for around 350. so 200 would seem like a good deal as long as its not too beat up

I personally would pass on a mossberg for 2bills, can find them cheaper used at pawn shops, 2bills will almost get you a nova or an 870 from a pawn shop.

It depends is it a mossburg 500 NO it's not a good deal big 5 and such sell em for 250 with a home defender barrel from time to time.. if it is a 835 that can shoot 3.5 in mags then probably a good deal.... i love my 835 and my bro, bro in law and buddies all love the 500 for price and function!

I shoot a mossberg 835 ulti-mag and like it, i think i paid around $350 for it, the mossberg 500 is a bit cheaper. Like spur said if its in good shape it doesn;t sound like a bad deal. I would ask him if you could shoot it first before you write him a check and make sure its a gun you want.

Not knowing which model or condition its hard to tell you what its worth.
I just looked online and could find a few quickly that were 12 gauge 500's for 175 or less. With enough scouring i could come up with one around 130 im sure.

Not a "Smoking Deal"...I was in Walmart recently and saw a Mossberg 500 for $212.00 (I believe).

I shot a Mossberg for 25 years, Never had a problem other than replacing a few worn out parts, For the money I think they are one of the best Shotguns you can buy, always dependable, Very easy to Disassemble and clean, and they don't cost you a Arm and a Leg.

For your money I would look around for a good used 870 Wingmaster, my brother and I have enjoyed shooting ours for years.

Good hunting.

I bought a used mossy pump for $125 a few years back and hunted duck with it for 3 seasons....ugly, worn, but worked. $200 if in great shape, plus see what other goodies can be thrown in...

Or, offer $150 cash right now. Worth a try...

That sounds like a much better deal. I love my 870. I carry that when I really want to hit what I am shooting at. For whatever reason my mind and finger tend to just keep shooting with my 1187 but that pumps make me aim a bit better ;).
