Nisqually & Marsh Rat
« on: December 08, 2009, 08:41:26 PM »
Is the Marsh Rat enough boat to hunt the Nisqually flats on a calm day with mid morning high tide?

Thanks in advance!

I wouldnt do it.  If you did, stay on the
McCallister side, but I still think its Darwin Award material myself.  Alot can  change and go wrong in a hurry out there.

You'll be fine on a calm day...if the North wind picks up get out quick though. I would love to see the reaction on your face when a sea lion surfaces 5' from the rat though...I had one come up beside the boat last week there and I about pissed my waders, and I was in a 20' sled.

Good luck and try and stay out of the mud.

Thanks for the responses and advice. I'm very seasoned on the water and know about the tides / wind issues with places like this. I took the boat out this morning for a few hours and it was a blast. Very cool place to hunt.

Cheers!
