Anyone looking to call a cat on Hancock?
« on: December 28, 2009, 08:41:05 PM »
My son and I were out doing some coyote hunting today and we were up by Moose Junction. We did three stands with no success except for calling in two stellar jays. We did see three does in the timber right before moose junction, but that was it. After leaving the first stand we were driving up the 22 road and found lion tracks walking down the road back where the 22 first meets the timber on the edge of the clearcut. I only have two days left on my pass and did not purchase another one for next year and I don't have a cat tag, so I thought I would throw this info out to someone who might want to try calling a cat. Not sure how old the tracks were, but they were not all frozen up like the coyote tracks were right next to it. Hope somebody can get on this kitty.

What do you want me to call them?????   :dunno: :dunno:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

heard someone yelping the same tune for about half an hr,they must have set up by the road, they were above me,they had to see my truck.I was calling for bobs.I got tired of listening to the same tune over and over.I kept thinking stop that thing for a minute.and listen.I need a microphone plug in for the fox pro...I would loved to have whistled the lassie tune for them...

I hope you get something Rasbo and let me know if you do. It was exciting to find those tracks.

In all my years running around up there I have only seen two cougars and one set of smoking hot, fresh tracks in a downpour with no rain in'em. Kinda made me take a second look at my bow and wonder if I should go in that clearing. The doe that came buzzing by me at mach 2 told me exactly where the cougar was and I didn't see anything after that. One of our hunting buddies was sitting with his back against a slash pile on the other side of the clearing and had the cougar walk around the edge of the pile right up on him. He ended up throwing sticks at and it just gave him a pissed off glare, a snarl, and walked off. Didn't see an animal in that clearing for the rest of the season.
