Spokane coyote hunting
« on: December 30, 2009, 01:36:48 AM »
a buddy of mine lives on the west side of fairchild and has a coyote problem.  i whacked one of three last year about this time, and he says the others are still there.  i shot them last year at around 10am, called in with my old cd based dual speaker lorhman.  tried again a few months later with no response.  what time of day would you guys suggest?  i was thinking an evening this weekend.  they responded well to the deer distress and coyote serenade the first time out, but since then i have burned a cd of mouth call sounds... cats, dogs, mice, rabbits, etc.  any suggestions?

I'm very new to the coyote addiction but I will give you my  :twocents: for whats it's worth. I have been out a twice over the past couple weeks. Both times, I haven't even left the house until around noon. Both times I've called dogs in within the first 20 minutes of the first set. I'm just using a rabbit distress mouth call. Camo and wind direction are a huge factor too.
I think the weather probably plays a bigger part than the time of day.
There are plenty of people on here that are way more knowledgeable than I am. I'm sure you will get some awesome advice.
Good luck.
I am in the Spokane area if you need/want any help exterminating those critters.

Another suggestion. Post this under the predator/varmint section. You will get way more replies.

Frequently some coyotes can have a pattern much like us, They go to a food source (kitchen) and they travel back to their place where they feel at ease ( big recliner/couch), head out for some recreation (tavern) and then head for their sleeping area (bed) and start the process again. You have to figure out what part of their pattern they are doing on that property. Luckily they are up and about more in the colder weather and spending less time on the "couch" Pretty soon they will be spending a lot of time at the tavern hoping to get laid lucky.
